About Jason Howard

I am currently the GIS Program Manager at Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization and Council of Governments for Maricopa County and portions of Pinal County, Arizona. I oversee a staff of four FTEs, all of us working on a variety of GIS-related projects. My primary role in managing the GIS group at MAG is to ensure the timely and accurate completion of data maintenance activities in support of socioeconomic modeling. I am also responsible for the maintenance of the enterprise geodatabase, MAG’s ArcGIS Online implementation, and ensuring that MAG's GIS users have access to the most current geospatial data produced in my division as well as data produced outside of MAG. I am responsible for seeing that MAG's GIS users have access to the training resources they need to use GIS most effectively.I have over twenty years of professional and technical experience in geographic information systems, having worked in both technical and managerial capacities in the geospatial industry. My experience includes working in city, regional, and state agencies. I served as chair of the Arizona Geographic Information Council (AGIC) in 2015 and I have been associated with AGIC for the better part of the past decade. In that time, I have served on several committees, served as chair of the AGIC Conference, and been privileged to meet many of my peers in the geospatial profession from around Arizona.
