The Asset Manager role see's me responsible for the management of 330 residential apartments within the CBD. As team leader for our 'pod' (which also includes a Property Manager and Letting Agent) I report directly to the GM and to the various property owners who's investments we are managing. As part of the Accommodation Solutions team my role as advisor for external accommodation allows me to assist all students who require help finding a place to live. The majority is international students who are looking to visit New Zealand for the first time and have no idea about what to expect in terms of rent and locations. I also help current students who are looking at renting privately for the first time or who did not get accepted into the halls of residences. Advice offered typically includes: suitable locations based on where their campus is, what to expect in terms of rent prices in Auckland, what other costs to budget for (living costs, transport, utilities, etc), where to find private listings and suitable properties, what type of accommodation is suitable for them based on length of stay and budget, how renting and tenancy agreements in New Zealand work, advice on tenancy disputes and help with understanding bonds and signing agreements.I also organise flatting seminars (where I do a presentation on flatting advice), create flatting events for new students to find flat mates and review/reprint a 'Guide to Flatting in Auckland.'
