Responsible for the Trust's waste management system ensuring compliant and efficient collection, treatment and disposal of 5,000 tonnes of clinical and domestic waste annually. Development and promotion of procedures for the correct segregation, handling, disposal and recycling of waste continually looking to move waste up the waste hierarchy and wherever possible within the circular economy.Investigation of opportunities for better segregation and use of alternative and new technologies for waste disposal aimed at reducing overall costs.

Development, implementation and maintainance of waste, travel, carbon and environmental policies.Commercial waste costs in Leeds halved through implementation of segregation and recycling across Trust sites. 55% volume recycled. York recently completed. Innovative and distinctive healthcare waste segregation introduced focused on segregation of Infectious/Offensive/Domestic waste. 80% diversion from incineration and 60% cost saving.Travel Plans for 3 major sites submitted, accepted and initiated. Carbon Management projects ongoing inc. solar PV, LED lighting and insulation projects. Year on year DECs improvements and 25% CO2 reduction target by 2015.

Delivered a campaign on behalf of Gateshead Council to support their new recycling service.Secured targets and met objectives of the campaign.Managed a team in the communication of tailored messages to educate, inform and encourage use of the new recycling service. Managed the daily logistics of the campaign and directed resources in response to agreed targets.Responded to residents’ queries regarding the new recycling service through the switchboard and via email. Carried out home visits where necessary.Assisted Gateshead Council staff to run roadshows to promote the new recycling service.Achievements:Exceeded contact targets for the group by more than 50%Campaign contributed to three-fold increase in recycling weights across the Gateshead borough.

Ensured stores were supported in their ability to deliver company financial and environmental goals. Identified, developed and promoted best practice in respect of environmental management and recovery of internal loss. Bottom-line contribution secured through continual development of working techniques, routines and procedures.
