I developed an internal website to be shared with the larger IBM ecosystem. I also headed up a bi-weekly engineering demo to share knowledge within the main and other teams. I developed the initial documentation for the product and continued to liaise with the IBM documentation team for our product. I also helped the team transition from a Red Hat backed community to the Apache Software Foundation.We started using devcontainer and other technologies to help new engineers onboard and create reproducible builds and environments. I helped pioneer those technologies for the group.

As president, I worked with the board members to find engaging speakers for our monthly meeting of Java developers. I also oversee the budget and sponsorships.While president of UJUG, our group grew from ~15 people coming to monthly events to over 120 consistently with spikes as high as 300. We weathered COVID and did not shut down, but continued to deliver great speakers and talks to the community. We are one of the top five JUGs in the USA.

I lead the time in community building through both the online presence with a blog, website, and social media. I created YouTube videos to help reach a wider audience on the YouTube platform.

I migrated an in-house custom search solution built on top of ElasticSearch to Lucidworks Fusion and Apache Solr. Also created API gateways using Eclipse Vert.x as well as maintained a Drupal 8 instance for website publication with the Red Hat Developer Program.I wrote documentation and setup instructions for building, environment setup, and deployment of all the technologies I was involved in creating.

During my time as a Senior Software Engineer within Red Hat, I created the main exception handling paradigm within Seam 3, oversaw the transfer of Seam 3 and Solder (CDI Extensions) to the Apache Foundation and helped create Apache DeltaSpike. I also became the maintainer for awestruct, a static site generator built in Ruby. I was the lead engineer for Red Hat JDF, JBoss Developers and the Red Hat Developer Program. I have also migrated the Red Hat Developer Program to Drupal 8, and contributed to several other Open Source projects within the Java space including JBoss Forge, Arquillian, Hibernate, and Apache DeltaSpike.I have also presented at many conferences both nationally and internationally, including but not limited to JavaOne (now CodeOne), Devoxx BE, Devoxx MA, JavaLand, Red Hat Summit, and DevNexus.

Working with Java EE technologies (JSF, JPA, JMS, JTA, JAX-RS and Seam 2.2) and advising other team members in their usage to provide customized in-house services for the company's Loan Officers and Operations teams. Largest contributions thus far include a migration of a legacy app from JSF 1.1 to JSF 2.0, custom Seam 2.2 exception handler, and asynchronous processing using JMS.

I spear headed a short term project to add information that the general public can access about the school's projects, both internal and external projects. We used a combination of XML and XSLT to quickly present the information on our website.I have also participated in many projects at Neumont including projects using C# and the .NET framework, Java and J2EE, and PHP.
