Assigned to the Employment Law Unit (ELU), providing assistance in litigation and counseling with regard to employment and labor law issues throughout the agency. Investigating and analyzing evidence of employee misconduct under Section 75 of the Civil Service law. Drafting charges for ELU prosecution of employees in disciplinary hearings before the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. Conducting legal research on issues relating to personnel, labor law, public access to information, conflicts of interest rules, and FOIL requests.

Student Attorney practicing under second-year state bar license. Represented clients charged with misdemeanor offenses in Dallas County Criminal Court. Wrote Motions to Suppress to argue before the Court as well as advocated for my clients position and best interests. Was able to dismiss multiple clients cases due to lack of evidence. Worked with and negotiated daily with Assistant District Attorneys to secure favorable offers for my clients.

Worked with Trial Attorneys assisting with litigation against employers for violations of Title VII, the ADEA and the ADA. Conducted legal research and writing, assisted with claimant and witness interviews, drafted discovery responses, and helped prepare claimants and witnesses for deposition. Abstracted depositions and developed fact responses for defending against motions for summary judgment as well as charges against employers.

Worked with Secret Service Special Agents in the areas of counterfeit and financial crimes, and asset forfeiture to include drafting legal documents, memorandums, correspondence, reports, and official messages for the U.S.Attorney’s Office. Researched legal issues that arose during ongoing investigations and assisted with opening, processing, and closing federal criminal investigations.

In nearly a 10-year military career, developed interpersonal and organizational leadership skills. Wounded in action in Afghanistan and a Purple Heart recipient. Supervised over 30 personnel during continuous operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Handled Top-Secret information and coordinated and implemented security strategies with foreign dignitaries to include Heads of State, State Department and NATO personnel. Managed and accounted for up to $2,500,000 in equipment and property with zero loss.
