About Jason Stace

I’m a proud Wellingtonian who has spent the majority of my career working in the public sector procurement and commercial arena (both inside the public sector, and within the private sector working for public agencies).I have 25 years’ experience in management and leadership of teams and over 18 years’ experience in commercial, procurement and supplier management. I have extensive experience in complex sourcing and the resulting contract and supplier relationship management required. Across my career I’ve been involved in a broad range of complex selection, engagement and supplier management activities across spend categories including ICT, social services, and corporate and professional services. I've set up and evolved procurement and commercial services teams, and helped organisations to assess and develop their maturity of teams, capability and productivity particularly using tools such as the Procurement Capability Index (PCI) and Framework (PCF). A vocal advocate of improved procurement and supply management practice has been important to me, I’m an invited (and active) participant in MBIE's Business Reference Group run by the Government Procurement Branch .This involvement has been particularly useful to advance procurement initiatives through the Better Public Service lens. I strive to improve the sense of community within procurement practitioners, and to help develop buyers and suppliers become better equipped to navigate procurement initiatives to successful outcomes. I’m likable but also uncompromisingly driven to achieve great results. I’m extremely customer focused and am able to distill the key elements from complex issues in order to overcome challenges and resistances. Specialties: Procurement, tendering, supplier selection, supplier management, supply chain, value chain, contract negotiation, contract management, dispute resolution, spend analysis and review
