In March 2020, Level 11 merged with Launch Consulting. After the merger I joined the newly formed Technology Leadership Team. As a Technology Leader I worked across multiple client accounts to define and maintain the overall technology roadmaps, ensuring the transformation efforts remain aligned with the business objectives unique to each client.Concurrently, I was the Solution Architect for strategically key clients. Most recently I led the development of a unique cloud-based application platform that empowers heavy-civil construction companies to build better bids based on analysis of their own historical data and provide near real-time performance insights for on-going jobs.

I joined Level 11 as an Architect and Lead Developer for the Carnival Ocean Medallion project. As a member of the program's architecture council, I helped shape key elements of the vast microservices ecosystem, establishing standards and service areas. I directly led the Ocean Safety effort, defining and implementing a roadmap that transformed existing disparate services into a cohesive, resilient system. The Ocean Safety system has been extremely successful, often cited as a prime example of “how to do it right.”

I joined Gesto for the opportunity to be a “hands-on” Architect, responsible for designing and leading the development of a new Customer Experience Platform from the ground up. That platform has now been in production for over a year, supporting multiple tenants. I developed, communicated and refined the standards, patterns and implementation guidance for a stateless, event-driven service platform utilizing Scala and Akka.io, and more recently Node.js. This increased productivity and stability by enabling engineers to focus their efforts on implementing business functionality rather than mechanics. I defined the platform’s technical architecture and operations infrastructure, and built out most of the deployment automation. Recently I have been prototyping a container-based infrastructure, which promises more cost-effective resource usage within the EC2 environment while improving availability, enabling live deployments and streamlining our CI pipeline. In addition to defining the overall architecture, I also developed major platform features, including campaign targeting, campaign execution, recommendations, order processing as well as infrastructure components such as the event bus and multi-channel external message delivery. Most recently I was a critical member of the team that delivered Gesto’s newest, our integrated Point of Sale terminal.

I joined Korrio to return to front-line product development in a small company, where my efforts were able to make a direct, significant contribution to the company’s success. Notable accomplishments during my time here include re-engineering the technical infrastructure to support failover without requiring changes to the application, advocating for and driving the migration from subversion to git, salvaging a failed outsourced project by heavily refactoring the application and delivering it within a very tight timeframe, and automating the management of our server infrastructure using Chef.

The Amdocs Interactive Digital Commerce Solution powers storefronts for the world’s largest service providers. It is a content management and delivery platform that automates the entire content lifecycle from partner on-boarding, to content discovery, delivery, partner settlement, and customer support. As a software architect my responsibilities were broad and covered all aspects of the development lifecycle. I managed and communicated requirements and specifications to stakeholders both inside and outside the development organization, often working closely with product management. I assisted my teams with high-level design decisions and architectural principles, guiding their way as necessary. At times this included producing prototypes, especially for difficult concepts or new technologies. I tracked technology developments and understood available options, assessing strengths, weaknesses and applicability to the issues at hand. As a senior member of our development organization, I participated in the definition of and advocacy for our agile processes. In addition to the function of architect, I also served as the technical product owner of most of our foundational assets. As such, I managed the product backlog and stakeholder inputs for those assets. Aside from my primary responsibilities, I often served as a “utility infielder” solving problems in the areas of build and release management, continuous integration environment improvements and management of 3rd party assets.

Throughout my tenure with Accenture, I was a technical resource involved in all aspects of delivering solutions for numerous clients in the communications and high-tech fields including eBay, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, AT&T Wireless, and Sprint.
