A decade of retail sales management has shown me that you really are only as good as the employees that you hire. We've seen a lot of successes over the years and that has everything to do with the team we've put together. I can honestly say I am continually impressed at the quality of work my team provides, as well as their individual quality of character.Targets, metrics, profitability and all that other business-ey stuff set aside for just a moment, the key to running a successful business is maintaining a quality team. As a manager I try to create an environment that is comfortable, rewarding, and most of all fun. If your employees enjoy their job, you can trust them to do it well.As successful as we've been, we've struggled at times as well, but we've always come through on the other side with new ideas and a new resolve, but the same people. I'm loyal to my team, and in return they're loyal to me, and that brings me to what I view as my greatest personal achievement in this role - I've worked with the same group for years, and a number of employees who've left to better themselves have chosen to return. I'm proud of that.Hitting targets, and running a profitable business (back to that business-ey stuff I set aside earlier) is the goal we strive for as salespeople, managers, owners and ultimately anyone involved in that business. All I can say is having the right people make those business-ey things so much easier.
