Orchestration of Distributed Micro-services Over Degraded Fog Networks Within a Virtualised Testbed.For 12 weeks I developed a virtual testbed to experiment on tactical cloud networks.Cloud native software is built with no concern for communication and processing limitations.When computing at the edge (with no highspeed internet or powerful computers) you may have limited or no communication with a datacenter.We need a way to have the flexibility of cloud computing but with the autonomy of local hardware.Fog computing is the idea to take a little piece of the cloud with you, wherever you go. This means that when you lose connection with mission control, you can still carryout essential computing services.It also means that when ever network access comes up, it can be automatically utilized.It is unknown how exactly network degradation effects microservice systems deployed to a private cloud or fog network.This is why we need to make a sandbox for testing infrastructure and software deployments.Specifically, we need to test the efficacy of microservice orchestration.By testing orchestration in a virtual environment, valuable insights about the best way to deploy fog networks can be achieved.The testbed itself is made up of many layers of abstraction.Vagrant, VirtualBox, Ansible, Nomad, Docker.
