NeuroRestore designs targeted technologies for restoration of locomotion and other functions in Spinal Cord Injury patients. I design algorithms to automatically optimize multipolar electrode configurations, tailored to the anatomy and functionality of the patient, for optimal performance.Master student in Neural Systems and Computation (Institute of Neuroinformatics - ETH & UZH). Learning a lot about how the brain works and how learning occurs, how we can study and simulate this phenomena... And this is definitely a lot of fun. My goal is to apply this knowledge to biologically-inspired algorithms, as well as decoding algorithms for neuroprosthetics.My background is Biomedical Engineering (best academic record of the year) and a previous master in Data Science, before enrolling in the Institute of Neuroinformatics. Additionally, I have studied two semesters in the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) on international mobility. On the professional side, I am passionate about Biomedical Engineering and its broad applications for diagnose and treatment of a wide variety of diseases. I am specially interested in Neurotechnology and Brain-Machine Interfaces, as they have a great potential to treat neurological injuries (stroke, spinal cord injury) and neurodegeneratives illnesses. For my Final Year Project, I worked at the Neural Rehabilitation Group at the Instituto Cajal, applying low-intensity electrical stimulation combined with functional movement to promote neural plasticity, in a project to develop a low-cost neurorehabilitation device.Additionally, I have participated in Biomedical Engineering Congress (CASEIB), and in innovation challenges like EIT Health's Innovation Days, where with my team we developed a drone-defibrillator solution for providing cardiac assistance to the rural environment with low costs.On the personal side, I have been deeply involved in student representation in UC3M, and representative in the National Council of Students of Biomedical Engineering of Spain (CEEIBIS in Spanish). Furthermore, I have been Event Coordinator for the Biomedical Engineering Job Fair, planning and organizing the event as well as coordinating our student team, greatly developing soft skills like teamwork, team management, leadership, communication, flexibility...
