• Senior executive overseeing 55 employees at the 7,000-daily, 8,000-Sunday circulation paper in Alaska’s capital city. Our news team won and placed in several Alaska Press Association awards and the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Association’s under 10,000-circulation category. A special 64-page tab, “Between Two Worlds,” a year-long project looking at the impacts of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, was cited by our chairman as one of the company’s top journalism endeavors. Oversaw our marketing, advertising and newsrooms for our Celebrate 2000 project, a massive undertaking to unite the community as we entered a new century. Our advertising and marketing program, coupled with our editorial content, was considered one of the top three best among our 27 newspapers and generated more than $400,000 in revenue. Our web site won the Newspaper Association of American’s top Internet web site award in 2000 for our circulation size.
