About Jay Grace

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2020 from Binghamton University. I started my education at Monroe Community College and played on the softball team. My team and I won regionals and ended fourth in Nationals, so I have ample experience in teamwork. Furthermore, I have a multitude of experiences in which I mentored. I worked at Taco Bell for almost four years where I acquired skills in staying calm during stressful situations and being able to work in fast-paced environments. I was also entrusted to watch and train new employees. Additionally, I tutored students in a Methods of Reasoning course where I helped students understand logic-related topics and problem-solving (e.g., truth tables and proofs). Moreover, I was a teaching assistant for a 400-student General Psychology course and a senior seminar where I made my own experiment that follows ethical and IRB guidelines. In all cases, I gained a passion for mentoring and spreading knowledge with others. Further, I learned the amount of effort and time that goes into creating an experiment that does not violate ethical standards and remains valid.In the summer of 2019, I was given the opportunity to work at Helio Health, a detox facility. This is a voluntary program where patients come to withdraw from substances with the assistance of nursing and clinical staff. I worked as a Guest Services Specialist at the Rochester and Binghamton locations. As a Guest Services Specialist, I made connections with patients; assisted in administering medications; and searched personal belongings for contraband. This opportunity has ignited a passion for destigmatizing mental illnesses and helping as many people as possible. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration!
