Lead project engineer to develop a new automated conveyor product for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.  Led successful installation, testing, and acceptance of prototypes of two conveyor products in Intel factory. Coordinated with internal stakeholders as well as two vendors to meet project milestones. Used MS Project for scheduling.  Developed first mechanical shock spec for semiconductor robotics to prevent product damage based on statistical design of experiments. Used shaker table to derive the shock spec, and determined spec verification procedure using portable accelerometer.  Created mechanical tolerance model and utilized software interface standards to successfully interface the two automated conveyor products with overhead robotic vehicle systems.  Worked with vendors to ensure compliance of conveyors with industry and Intel specs.

Analyzed behavior of large-scale robotic systems to meet customer RFQ requirements for automated semiconductor material handling.  Used discrete event simulation analysis to modify system layouts in AutoCAD to meet customer’s system performance requirements. Developed and implemented algorithm to translate geometrical CAD data from MS Access database to AutoMod simulation model files. Algorithm also automatically analyzed robotic vehicle system performance using network analysis, linear optimization, and queuing theory. Resulted in faster RFQ response.

Contractor to NASA-Ames Research Center. Developed and integrated real time C++ embedded software for six wheeled autonomous robot vehicle using VxWorks real time operating system (UNIX workstation for development) with ControlShell. Subsystems included motor control board for coordinated motion control of six wheels, motor control board for coordinated three-axis motion control of robot arm, pan/tilt camera motion system, and video frame grabber board. Developed control software for kinematic control of the robot arm and the six wheels. Successfully deployed system in Hawaii.  Developed real time embedded software for motion control system to control a three degree of freedom Benthos robot arm on underwater tethered vehicle. Also developed serial fiber optics communication system for vehicle. Successfully deployed system in Antarctica for scientific research.
