A high energy, fiscally conscious, and goal-driven executive, Jay S. Walters approaches each new business challenge with his inherent propensity for creative problem-solving and measured risk-taking to drive consistent high level performance-based results and strategic improvements. Having earned his B.S. degree in Physics from Indiana University, and armed with his MBA credentials from the same, Jay’s goal was to complement his natural scientific critical thinking ability with a strong foundation in business and finance.In 1985, Jay was offered a position with the Indiana Department of Commerce advancing to the position of Deputy Director of Development Finance. During his tenure with the department, he managed the state’s incentive programs and negotiated business attraction packages with expanding and relocating national and international companies. Jay was recruited by the City of Indianapolis in 1993 to the position of Manager of Economic Development. He gained extensive public policy and finance experience as he implemented business development strategies and helped lead Mayor Goldsmith’s effort to recruit new business.Jay’s career took a leap in leadership and responsibility when he entered the private sector in 1997 after accepting an executive position working with a private economic development group. He has managed hundreds of business expansion and relocation projects throughout the U.S., working with a diverse group of corporate clients ranging from small, start-up business ventures to Fortune 100 companies. Recently making the transition from executive to owner, Jay co-founded and co-owns FairWinds Advisors.
