Responsible for Infrastructure as a Service, Windows server environments in Azure. A condensed representation of the Production environment with most of the applications / services deployed. Focused on automation to quickly provide consistent Dev and Test Environments when needed and reduce any manual tasks. Dabbled with different Infrastructure as Code / Automation tools but decided to go with Packer, Terraform and Powershell scripts executed by Windows scheduled tasks.Operated and maintained Team City and Octopus Deploy, building and deploying product team's code autonomously and regularly, to keep the environments in check with Production.Designed, implemented and supported the Deployment of Docker in all environments (including Production) and automated the Team City build agent servers to provide constant self service.Also conducted general administration and improvements to both Azure and Google platform and joined in the Production environment on-call rota.

A varied career in the Royal Corps of Signals (IT & Communications). First trained as a Systems Engineering Technician to maintain radio communications but was limited on what could be done due to equipment being under warranty! Kept myself busy by taking on a secondary role as a Physical Training Instructor to help keep the troops fit. This rewarding role continued for around 6 years alongside my main job role.Next, I led a team of Communications Systems Engineers, providing 2nd line Operational communications (Windows domain) support to NATO in-barracks staff and exercising troops. Worked closely with both 1st line (Service Desk) and 3rd line (Enterprise Admins) to both provide and receive support.After another year's training and achieving a Foundation Degree Merit with Distinction, I was posted to my final unit before making the decision to leave.There, I led a troop of Operators and Engineers, providing Strategic communications (Windows / Linux) to staff, whilst deployed with them. The point-of-presence consisted of laptops, servers, switches, routers, trunk bearer and satellite. It was essential to be prepared, as we were often deployed worldwide to remote locations.Spent the last year of my career teaching CCNA R&S to Royal Signals troops after recently passing the exam myself and instructor training course. This was a very rewarding role which allowed me to provide the troops with the knowledge and skills they required to succeed in their roles.
