G.Jayakumar entered into Malayalam Film Industry in 1985 through the much acclaimed film “PANCHAGNI”(പഞ്ചാഗ്‌നി) as Executive Producer along with his brother Mr. G P Vijayakumar under the renowned banner “Seven Arts Films”. He was fully involved in Production and Marketing of nearly 20 films in a short span of five years. With the vast experience gained over these years, Jayakumar started his own Film Production and Distribution Company “Bhavachitra” in 1990. His maiden venture “PERUNTHACHAN,” written by the legend Mr. M.T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by Ajayan was a Big Hit and was acclaimed as “The Best of the Year” by the entire media and viewers. “PERUNTHACHAN,” released in 1992, bagged almost all prestigious awards including 2 National Awards, 5 State Awards, Indira Gandhi Award (Golden Lotus), Film Fare Award, Film Critics Award and many more prevailing in the country at that time. The film also represented Malayalam in 7 well known International Film Festivals. “PADHEYAM” produced in association with Padmasree Bharath Gopi (as co-producer) in 1993 directed by Bharathan with Mammootty in the lead was a commercial success and also acclaimed much recognition and awarded “V.Shantharam Gold Shield” in an all India contest.“KALLUKONDORU PENNU” - scripted and produced by self and directed by Syamaprasad with popular artists like Suresh Gopi, Vijayasanthi, Dileep etc. was based on the 1990 Kuwait war and was well appreciated by the public and critics. Ross Petals Entertainments Pvt Ltd. started in 2010 was mainly focused on producing entertainment programs for Mini Screen. The first serial produced by Jayakumar ‘KUMKUMAPOOVU” telecasted in Asianet itself was a totally different and unrivaled visual treat to the Malayalam serial viewers. It has to be proudly mentioned that three of the ever-time hit serials in the history of Malayalam Television Industry- “Kukumapoovu”, “Parasparam” and “Chandanamazha” were produced by Mr. Jayakumar under the banner Ross Petals. Currently, Ross Petals have a splendid brand image in the Television Industry.
