Founder

Los Angeles, California, United States

After seeing how impactful resident events were at my community, I took a leap of faith and started Dime Tú Events – A company that is passionate about enhancing the resident experience and their relationship with the onsite team. Dime Tú Events offers full-service event planning for apartment communities. My goal is to provide beautifully designed events that encourage social engagement while reducing time and stress from the office team. Thus, creating a happier community overall.

Property Manager

I managed a beautiful coastal property in Redondo Beach named Elements 616. Prior to my arrival, this property suffered through a storm causing damage to roughly 80% of the units. Tenants were forced to move so the units could be restored to habitable conditions. After IDEAL Capital completed construction, I arrived to complete the lease-up. Me and my rockstar leasing agent were able to lease the remaining 60% of units in just four months. We did this by simply loving the community we were selling. We glowed with happiness each day and loved connecting with everyone we encountered. We began hosting consistent events – such as yoga on the beach, mixology classes, wine tasting, paint and sip, a pool party, and more – which helped everyone to get to know each other. It was the first time I worked in a community where many residents were friends with one another. As cliché as it sounds, it truly felt like we were living through a feel-good movie. This was the highlight of my career and where my idea to start Dime Tú Events was conceived.

Property Manager

After I felt confident in my abilities to manage a property, I was ready for the next step. For me, that was to manage a luxury high-rise. It was a pinch-me moment when I was offered the property manager position at Sunset Vine Tower, a luxury high-rise in the heart of Hollywood. It felt like I made it. The girl who didn’t do very well in school, who rebelled in her youth, and who struggles with anxiety, was now living in an apartment with floor-to-ceiling, wrap-around windows facing the Hollywood sign. Although I loved my apartment, my job at this property was very challenging. I was not prepared for the eccentric personalities of my new tenants. Despite my best efforts, it felt as though confrontation was unavoidable. Customer service had always been my strong suit, but it was time to take my practice to the next level. I learned to predict unpleasant conversations before they happened, allowing myself to take all measures possible to avoid the outcome. I learned the importance of seeking professional council to ensure accuracy in messages and actions, and to feel more confident in my stance. I also learned to hold myself to a higher standard than others and that I was never allowed a mistake, or a minor moment of forgetfulness. Meanwhile, I was navigating the new normal of COVID-19 and quarantine. This period taught me two lessons that I keep with me today: 1) Hold yourself to a standard that you can support in hindsight. It’s easy to defend yourself in the heat of the moment, but could you support your position after emotions have calmed down? 2) Your environment is a direct link to your quality of life. Hollywood wasn’t for me, and that’s okay. But I’m sure you can imagine how relieved I was once I moved on to my next venture in the beautiful city of Redondo Beach, CA.

Property Manager

Los Angeles, Ca

My time at Holland was the most impactful for my career and personal growth. I was hungry for a promotion and was rejected numerous times upon applying for manager positions. But each time I was rejected, I asked “why”. Then, I dedicated myself towards learning what I was told I was lacking. During this time, I moved from the Northwest to Los Angeles, I stepped in as an interim property manager for five-months at a boutique property, I often lent myself to sister properties in need of coverage, I relocated back to the Northwest for three-months to act as an interim lease-up manager, then I was eventually promoted to the property manager of 1111 Wilshire. While I was attending online university, the curriculum did not prepare me for my current profession. Thus, I turned to books to bridge the learning gap. My Harvard Business Review Guides paired with eagerness to take on managerial reports, attend manager meetings, and volunteer my assistance whenever needed is how I eventually received my promotion. This was a time of changes, unfamiliarity, discipline, and rejection. This was a time of preparing me for a future I didn’t even expect – A future in entrepreneurship.

Jul 2018 - Jan 2020

Assistant Community Manager

My previous property sold and the small company didn’t have anywhere to place the current staff (aka myself). I began looking for jobs with other companies and eventually landed an assistant manager position in Oregon. By this point, I had already begun dabbling into financial reports and learning accounting functions. Something about the accounting side has always been fun for me. I enjoy solving problems and keeping our records tidy. While working for AMC, I was apart of a few acquisitions between us and Holland, which prompted my curiosity into this company that kept purchasing our properties. It was evident that Holland was a larger, more established company. I knew that if I wanted to learn more and further my career, it would be with them. And so, I went.

Leasing Consultant

As a young girl, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my future. The only dream I had was to move to sunny California. But career-wise, I didn’t give it much thought. I was just focused on finding happiness. I struggled with anxiety and depression as a kid, and I didn’t apply myself in school. I started working when I was 16 and had a handful of random jobs until I was 20. In early 2014, I found a Craiglist ad hiring for a leasing agent position. I didn’t really understand the role I was applying for, but the admin work and office structure appealed to me. I was offered the job and it was the first time I felt like an adult. This job gave me a sense of importance. When it was time for me to go on my first tour, I was terrified! I had (and still have) a fear of public speaking, and the idea of giving someone a tour felt like being on a stage. After my first tour, I ran into my assistant manager’s office, my face beet red, and told her I couldn’t do it. Luckily, she had calmed me down and reassured me that it gets easier. Today, I’m often described as outgoing and confident. People are shocked when I tell them I’m introverted and shy. My experience as a leasing agent helped me develop communication skills, confidence and disarmed some (not all) of my awkwardness. My introduction into property management also showed me a career path that I could peruse. It was only a few months after I was hired when I began my journey towards becoming a property manager. But first, I had to become an Assistant.
