I worked with librarians and archivists to develop historical exhibits for the Whitman College Library. In this role, I spearheaded the research, design, and curation of several display case exhibits on local history. In creating these exhibits, I used archival material from the Whitman College Northwest Archives and worked with archivists to promote new resources. I also conducted a digital humanities project using VoyantTools software to analyze the text of the entire run of the Whitman College Pioneer student newspaper. My research was then presented in a digital exhibit that I designed to demonstrate how digital techniques like text mining and text analysis could be used in the classroom.

I worked as a research intern for a regional community history organization focused on the history of LGBTQ+ people and culture in the Pacific Northwest. Over the course of this internship, I conducted around 200 hours of research into the history of LGBTQ+ youth in the Portland area. In the pursuit of this research, I poured over newspaper collections, dove into archival manuscripts, and met with many different members of the local LGBTQ+ memory to hear their stories and experiences. The internship concluded with a portfolio of research and a guide to future researchers and scholars. I then sought and received funding from the George T. Nicola Fellowship in 2019 to produce a journal-length article from my research. My article was subsequently published on the GLAPN website in December 2019.

As the Oversight Chair, I chaired the Oversight Committee of ASWC, which oversees the daily function of the Whitman College student government to ensure that its by-laws and constitution are followed by student representatives and leaders. Within this position, I sat on several committees, oversaw a fair and impartial election process, and led investigations. Of particular note, I also headed a hiring initiative to rebuild the committee so that institutional memory could be maintained during a dynamic period in the student government.

I worked as the Vice Chair of the ASWC Oversight Committee, which oversees the daily functioning of the Whitman College student government to ensure that it follows its own administrative by-laws and founding documents. I sat on the Finance Committee, which is responsible for allocating a budget of over $500,000 to ensure that the budgeting process was transparent and consistent. As Vice Chair, I was particularly responsible for coordinating information about bi-weekly ASWC Senate meetings with the Whitman College Title IX Coordinator to ensure that no-contact orders were followed.
