I am a future healthcare professional with many different experiences that have shaped my journey in the field. During my time shadowing in orthopedic surgery, I had the privilege of witnessing complex surgical procedures and the importance of care provided to patients. This experience solidified my pursuit of a career in healthcare and ignited my interest in orthopedics. Similarly, my exposure to cardiothoracic outpatient care allowed me to appreciate the clinical strategies for managing cardiovascular illness.I find particular importance in doing my part for those going through hardship by packaging medical kits for MedWish. Additionally working with United Cerebral Palsy, where I assist children and parents in using adapted toys. This was among the first experiences that I found could be both fun and rewarding for everyone. This experience opened the door for my project through Replay ride-on. Through Replay, I have been able to engage in projects aimed at improving healthcare accessibility and inclusivity. Through replay, volunteers are tasked with adapting cars for kids with diminished limb/trunk function, enabling them to experience greater mobility and independence.As a student government senator representing the College of Health, I have been a liaison between the students and faculty/staff of the college. I have actively worked to address student concerns and promote initiatives that enhance the educational experience within the healthcare field.Mentorship has been an integral part of my journey. I have had the privilege of participating in panel discussions where I share my strategy and experiences with aspiring professionals. This mentorship role has allowed me to give back to the community and support the next generation of student leaders.Lastly, my involvement in research has equipped me with critical thinking skills and an evidence-based approach to problem-solving. I have actively contributed to projects that advance our understanding of various qualitative and quantitative healthcare topics.In summary, my diverse range of experiences in healthcare, encompassing shadowing in surgery, volunteering, advocacy, mentorship, and research, has provided me with a unique perspective and a strong foundation for pursuing a career dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes and patient experiences. I am optimistic about the opportunity to continue growing and one day make a positive impact in the healthcare field and am eager to contribute my skills, knowledge, and passion to future endeavors in healthcare.
