Within his first couple of weeks with the company, he had put together a comprehensive test plan primarily by exploration of the software and engaging the Product Owner/developers in order to understand the functionality. As we didn't previously have a QA resource embedded within the Scrum Team, Jay played a key role in defining the quality process, including arranging a weekly meeting with the Tech Lead to ensure that high priority issues were being addressed in a timely manner. I really appreciated Jay's proactive nature and attention to detail - he would send out daily status reports so that key stakeholders were aware of the testing progress and any issues that needed to be addressed. Jay is also strong technically, and was able to quickly pick up and work with our Java/Selenium automation framework. He worked closely with our Automation Engineer to suggest improvements to the framework and implemented automated tests to improve our coverage. One of the highlights of Jay's time with Gandlake was when he used Fiddler HTTP debugging proxy to identify a security issue with our application that wasn't picked up by Burp Suite or during our annual penetration test. Jay demonstrated that he is able to grasp new technologies. Having been introduced to MongoDB for the first time when joining Gandlake, he is now able to manipulate the database in order to create test content. Jay is a really likeable person with a cheerful demeanour and he fitted into our team well. He is able to strike a good balance between respecting people's time/priorities and ensuring that he is able to get the information that he needs to complete his goals and objectives.
