Within the facility, the R&D team works to create new flavors and fragrances for its clients, which includes several multi-national companies in the food and fragrance industries. As a research assistant, I was tasked with profiling various flavors that were produced by the company and setting up meetings to evaluate these flavors so I could create database to monitor the potential of every existing flavor at the firm.

The goal of the competition is to force the vehicle to stop a specified distance away from the starting line, but the catch is that the stopping mechanism must be controlled by the duration of a chemical reaction decided upon by the students.The Captain is in charge of organizing logistics for the team, managing finances, coordinating designs for the vehicle between difference technical subteams, ensuring safety in the lab and developing the engineering design package that provides a detailed equipment list, design specs, operating procedures, as well as risk management protocols.

The goal of my project was to reduce energy in the refining of mechanical pulp through impregnating the pulp with a particular chemical to increase its tensile strength, thus lowering the required energy consumed by the refiner. In my position, I designed and performed tensile enhancing experiments using a full factorial model based on specifications given by engineers at Catalyst's Crofton paper mill. I also performed Pulp Fractionation and Fibre Analysis to comprehend the mechanisms of different chemical treatments.

The Technical Assistant takes photos in the warehouse and writes procedures for technicians to assist with the steep learning curve in adjusting to the process.

Superior Tofu is one of the biggest tofu producers in Vancouver, BC. At the manufacturing plant, I worked as a Production Line Worker and learned how to perform basic tasks in food manufacturing. These tasks include processing tofu, packaging the products and operating a crane for pasteurization prior to distribution to the market.
