I can help your business benefit from better security and privacy, raise your awareness of your real risk posture, and control risks to a level appropriate to your business goals.I also am an English Language Coach. We can spend a day or a week together, forcing your English to new levels and breadths of vocabulary and correctness.Throughout my career, I have been a key player in creating robust, world-class information security and data protection organizations. I am well versed in the challenges of international regulatory compliance and risk management for small businesses and large multinational corporations. As both a Consultant and Account Manager for the Information Security Forum and an independent consultant I advise large and small companies on the governance and management of information security and the business risk which arises from processing information.Among others I've been the Data Protection Official of Transcom Worldwide in Barcelona bringing apparently disparate interests together towards common programs; as first a Security Engineer and then Privacy Advisor during 10 years with Delta Air Lines I helped to formulate Delta's first formal corporate information security policy, and governed infosec and privacy compliance at suppliers and partners worldwide.I am world-traveled (visited 50+ countries), speak Spanish fluently, and am conversant in Catalan. I have been a presenter and panelist at global conferences, speaking on information security and data protection.Lead, don't just manage.Speak to every audience’s unique interests.Retain vast stores of information experienced.Assimilate new and synthesize past experience to progress.Always do business wisely - not “perfectly”.See all perspectives in every situation = formidable benefit to any environment.Data Protection / Privacy / Information SecurityRisk Management / Compliance / GovernanceDisaster / Continuity Planning (DR/BCP)International travel, business and culture

Felines 'R' Us is the name I use as an umbrella for my occasional independent consulting work.I help individuals and small businesses with general IT needs, including selection / installation / configuration / maintenance and PCs, small LANs, Internet connectivity, software / applications, and of course security and privacy such as encryption of files or whole systems, proper understanding and use of widely available tools which the well informed person can use to significantly reduce their probability of suffering a security violation or data loss. I also help people understand how to analyze their business needs and structure their requirements so that they can effectively identify products and services to meet their needs, avoiding overspending on unnecessary shiny toys, and wasting time on tools which don't do what they actually need.I also provide guidance in cases where an individual feels or fears that their privacy or information security is threatened or has in fact been violated, to assist in deciding whether, and if so, how to contact appropriate authorities.I provide these services both in person and remotely over the Internet and by telephone. I'm not particularly cheap (nor am I highly expensive), and I'm worth every cent. References are available upon request.Recent clients have included advising a new Barcelona & US based global business constructing a Platform-as-a-Service regarding areas in which to focus limited resources on a tight timeline to address key Data Protection concerns; advising a well established small UK company on IT Strategy; and UNIX system management for a web services firm.
