SSG Robert Bales, coordinated the efforts of more than 100 personnel and multiple agencies from the United States and Afghanistan, in both an austere combat environment and in the United States, ultimately leading to a conviction for the murders of 16 Afghan civilians near Kandahar, Afghanistan.
