First point of contact for two markets (one inside the EU) for all of ChargePoint’s external policy and public affairs needs, as part of its European Policy team:● UK policy areas – strong engagement with Government on the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023, Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate, Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) funding, and the Rapid Charging Fund (RCF). Responded to Committee inquiries into EVs, and the future of transport data.● Ireland policy areas – worked with stakeholders on new accessibility guidelines, the implications of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulations (AFIR), and a Budget submission.● ChargeUK – was an active member of the Policy and Communications Group for the new UK trade association. In addition I provided evidence from European experiences to help create new membership categories, associated criteria, and a formal application process.● Public affairs – day-to-day management of two public affairs agencies (one in each of UK and Ireland), direct engagement with MPs, including in-person meetings. Completed media training with a communications agency, with which also I wrote articles for trade press.● US experience – advocated policy positions in a trip to Washington DC to meet with US Government officials, and also in London at the US Embassy. Met with UK Government officials to discuss trade opportunities, and built connections with the British American Business trade association.● International experience – gained insights through visits to ChargePoint’s engineering lab in California, its EU public affairs agency in Brussels, and working with European and US colleagues. Visits to Dublin and Athlone directly helped with developing policy positions and ChargePoint’s presence in Ireland.● Worked with the bus and fleet teams, and policy and grants issues encountered by the UK, Ireland, and Nordics sales team. Other trade associations I worked with as a member included SMMT, BVRLA, BEAMA, REA, and Zemo.

Developed CityFibre’s public policy positions, creating credible arguments with supporting evidence to progress business objectives:● Engaged directly with Government officials, trade associations, consumer and business groups, and other industry stakeholders, using advocacy skills to secure supportive policy outcomes.● Represented CityFibre at external meetings with sector stakeholders, and was the main representative for the company at trade association meetings, including techUK, and the Digital Connectivity Forum.● Wrote responses to Government consultations, and submissions to Government departments in response to requests for information, or as lobbying asks for the company.● Managed an external economic consultancy to produce a new report and dashboard quantifying the benefits of CityFibre’s network. Both products are used extensively by the corporate communications and local area teams, positioning CityFibre as credible thought-leaders.● Commissioned a joint report with The Infrastructure Forum, looking at how to make infrastructure smarter.● Co-chair of the Cultural Inclusion Network – became a joint de facto representative for the company on cultural inclusion issues, including collaborating with other networks (e.g Gender) to improve experiences for under-represented groups.

With a particular focus on transport and digital infrastructure - responsible for all of the infrastructure policy issues which affect small businesses:● Authored the report ‘Lost Connection: How poor broadband and mobile connectivity hinders small firms’, based on a survey of over a thousand FSB members and two roundtable events.● Led FSB’s policy contributions to the Business Connectivity Forum, set up by the Government.● Drafted responses to Government, regulator, and industry consultations.● Worked within the federated structure of the FSB, including devolved offices, regions, and policy chairs, to develop FSB’s policy positions on infrastructure issues, which I promoted to members and external stakeholders.

Led for benefits management in the Strategy, Economics and Policy team:● Led for GDS on a joint project with HMT (HM Treasury) to improve the quality of IT spend data to enhance cross-Government decision-making and strategies. Also improved HMT’s guidance for benefits management in agile delivery by updating the Green Book. Built benefits management capability in GDS programme teams.● Liaised with the Civil Service Group and Government Internal Audit Agency to audit, quality assure, and publish GDS’s yearly savings online on GOV.UK. Reviewed the Government Transformation Strategy commitments to apply clear metrics to measure the progress of digital transformation across Government.
