Design Engineer
Design, build, test and troubleshoot YIG synthesizers and other RF and Microwave products for commercial and Defense applications.
Sr. Design Engineer
Responsible, as Sr Design Engineer and Project Engineer, for taking the Garmin Flight Stream 510 from Prototype into production. The Flight Stream 510 is a wireless connectivity product that enables pilots to insert into their existing Avionics that will stream data to multiple tablet and/or smart phones to be used as auxiliary display devices. It is also used to update databases in the avionics wirelessly transferred directly from the tablet/phone using WiFi for a significantly faster update process than the current SD solution. From hardware and software perspective the Flight Stream 510 is a very powerful and complex device that represents state of the art technology packed into a very small SD card form factor in order to retain backward compatibility with existing and legacy avionics. Check out the Flight Stream here: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/155337The Flight Stream 510 makes use of BlueTooth and WiFi for wireless database transfers and live data streaming of avionics data.I was also instrumental in solving difficult, sustaining-engineering issues across multiple avionic product lines, serving on "tiger Teams" to quickly bring resolution to complex RF receiver challenges as well as finding solutions to EMC compliance issues on critical Avionics Appliances.
Hardware Design Engineer
Design, Build, Test and Troubleshoot state-of-the-art wireless audio products. Document processes, and procedures. Create prototype application designs for most top-name-brand consumer electronics using Avnera's highly-integrated, proprietary IC designs. Work closely with software/firmware, RF, Apps engineers and PCB designers team members to develop application designs.
Electrical Engineer
Filling multiple positions including Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Project Manager as required taking new projects from “cradle to grave”. Design innovative and cost effective, custom power electronics modules per customer ideas and/or specifications. Travel to customer sites to assist in new product development and introduction. Became major factor in bringing sales to one customer from six figures to over $22M annually through new product introduction.
Rf Design Engineer
Designed specific critical RF circuitry in the development of the WMT R4870 Bluetooth protocol Analyzer. I completed the design and development of the Rx Demodulator and used such to innovate a frequency counter that was able to “count” 2.4GHz within 1-3KHz Accuracy in a 4uS time frame. I designed and implemented the AGC, AFC, Data Filter and Data amplifier circuitry in the Rx section. Improved the Tx dynamic range by 10-20dB. Traveled to the GRD plant in Gyoda, Japan to assist in the transfer from design to production, working closely with the Japanese engineers and management in resolving production related issues as they arose. Was a key player in the RF design of the analyzer and received a $5000 cash bonus award for such efforts.
Lead Design Engineer (T3)
Instrumental in the success of the development of a CDMA cellular phone module designed for the Handspring Visor, awarded a $5000 cash bonus, directly from the customer for such. Saved Cadence thousands of dollars for rework of prototypes and rework equipment with creative solutions to difficult problems using basic tools. Effectively trained other Engineers in these time and materials, cost-saving techniques. Designed Frequency Hopping PLL Synthesizer for Bluetooth project. Test and implement test fixtures for the use in manufacture of CDMA/GPS Wristwatch. Improve on RF circuit design through the use of CAD and simulation software such as Eagleware, PSpice, Ansoft, Mathcad, Orcad and other related titles. Design and implement RF circuits using the above mentioned CAD software.
Associate Rf Engineer
Saved Over $40,000 in necessary test equipment by building a custom “Precision Carrier to Noise Generator” and other types of test equipment for the use in BER testing of Digital Radio Communications equipment. Received, for outstanding efforts and long hours, an all expenses paid vacation to Walt Disney Land for two, awarded directly from the customer. Designed, Built, Tested and implemented test fixtures for the use in the pilot production of wireless transmitters on Gemstone project. Improved RF circuit design through the use of CAD and simulation software such as Eagleware, EWB, Mathcad, Orcad and other related titles. Design and implement RF circuits using the above mentioned CAD software.
Master Engineering Technician
Resident Expert in RF-related issues on the Transformer Coupled Plasma Etcher used in the etching of Polysilicon wafers. Characterized existing RF delivery system on TCP high-density plasma etchers. Developed new RF delivery system. Pioneered Customer and Field Engineering training on the retrofitting, operation and troubleshooting of 0-5Kwatt RF delivery system. Saved Lam Research in excess of $15Million due to the resolution of escalated problems that would have, left unresolved, resulted in the cancellation of orders and return of faulty equipment. Build and verify engineering prototype circuits. Provided Global customer support of alpha and beta sites in East Asia and parts of Europe as well as the US. Provided Training of Field service Engineers at key customer sites such as IBM, Fishkill, NY, TI in Dallas and Austin, TX, Intel in Santa Clara, CA, SGS Thomson microelectronics in Milan, Italy, Samsung, Lucky-Goldstar and Hyundai in Seoul, Korea, etc. Focal point and main instrument in creating "Technical Construction Files", used in the 1997 European machine standards compliance. Acting Systems Engineer on 9600PTX project.
Head Technician
Responsible for the management and training of technician team in the repair dept. as well as performing priority repairs of wireless microphones and instrument systems. Reduced repair turn-around time from 3 Months down to 2 weeks by recruiting 4 extra technicians, eliminating the un-productive, implementing bar-coded computer tracking system, constructing 10 faraday “screen” rooms for technicians to work in (allowing all techs to work simultaneously regardless of frequencies). Provided organization to the parts inventory and by providing exemplary management skills and leadership. Build, test and repair engineering prototypes. Generate and update complete service manuals for existing and proprietary designs. Maintain responsibility for the parts room, and repair of test equipment.
Technician C
Instrumental in testing and tuning of Defense Electronics circuits for the use in the AIM120 AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range Air to Air) Missile program and many other Defense Contracts as well as standard components and subsystems. Developed test procedures and configuration of test equipment to accurately measure critical parameters of microwave and millimeterwave subsystems from 2 to 110Ghz. Conducted Customer and Government Source inspection tests. Troubleshot RF, analog, and digital designs to the component level. Evaluated and aligned RF processors for use in production. Fully documented all alignment and test procedures. Provided a weekly report to supervisor on daily progress.
