I am a dedicated Enterprise System architect of VMware Hybrid Cloud service stack across three states with 19 years experience using VMware ESX in production. I started using VMware products in 1999, VMware GSX/Workstation followed by ESX Server in 2001. I am VMware VCP 2, 3, 4, VCP5-DCV, VCP6-DCV and VCP6.5-DCV. A featured presenter at the first annual NC/SC VMware Summit Event in 2008 and asked to present at VMworld that year. I have presented at several VMUG events. I have been invited to blog for Virtualization Review and join VMware's Cloud team in the past. I am an active VMware Hospital Virtualization Community advisory board member, a 3-state group of all VMware Healthcare customers holding meetings geared towards sharing knowledge, best practice, and solution strategy to provide better care for our patients! I also serve on the Nutanix Technical advisory board.I am a technologist and enjoy reviewing innovation to enhance our Hybrid/private cloud services. I architected VMware delivery of our critical Epic Hyperspace split across two states. I have performed two virtual datacenter migrations, with the last in 2016 using vSphere 6 vMotion during the day with no business impact moving 555 live VMs and 51.8 TB of storage! My hardware/licensing stack strategy has saved us several million each year. I mentor across traditional IT silos, using internal training sites I have created and present Hybrid Cloud strategy presentations for leadership. I have been with Novant Health for 29 years.I have had very unique investment and freedom to explore innovation the last 19 years being dedicated to such a critical business strategy and attending the VMworld Conference since 2006.Novant Health is integrated system of 15 medical centers, 1,123 doctors in 343 clinical locations serving 3.5 million people throughout NC, SC, Virginia, and Georgia with 24,400 employees.

• Carolina Medicorp was my original employer in 1989 until a merger created Novant Health in 1997.• In my first year I was promoted 2 times. This was before desktop and server teams. I worked with the Executive leadership to change the default word processor application to Wordperfect which allowed use of built in Laser printer fonts.• As a desktop group was formed I was instrumental in changing our default PC from IBM PCs to Gateway 2000 PCs, saving $3,000 a PC and getting a much better computer. • I was the first in the Company to have an Internet account (remember Compuserve).• As servers started becoming popular I implemented and managed the first Novell Networks• I moved into the Windows Server space as that came about back with Windows 3.1• After we became Novant I became the Exchange guru managing our corporate email system, strategy, and upgrades. This was the first use of VMware Virtualization for Exchange Labs.• I was directly involved in our Active Directory upgrade to AD 2003. We used VMware virtualization again for our lab and testing the upgrade process.• I was promoted to Senior level around this time. I became the Citrix expert, attended the yearly Iforum (what is today Synergy) events developing strategy and managing our corporate Citrix Farms.• I first used VMware Workstation products in 1999• I began working with ESX in 2001 and gained skills and knowledge through self learning and blogs and was ready in 2005 when I was given charge by our CTO to lead our virtualization effort and be dedicated to this role for Novant.• I performed our first vMotion in 2003 using VMware ESX and the new Virtual Center• Our first VMware storage migration was in 2006, for our first of 6 SAN storage migration projects
