Concrete quality is my passion, not only in terms of performance, but also specification, construction and appearance. Worldwide experience has provided me an international reputation as a concrete expert.My primary areas of expertise are concrete mix design and quality control, technical marketing for the concrete industry and architectural concrete. Concrete is a material that, when properly implemented, is versatile, long lasting, economical and sustainable. To achieve these goals concrete must be produced properly the first time. Removal and replacement is a costly process. Based on my work with architectural concrete with my father, Jim Shilstone, I learned the procedures to follow to maximize the likelihood of creating a quality project without expensive repairs. This expertise has been applied to projects around the world, including: ➢ Buildings, public and commercial ➢ Precast and cast-in-place architectural concrete structures ➢ Pavements and bridges ➢ Civil and marine structures ➢ Artistic effortsI participate in technical committees for several associations. I am active in multiple committees for the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the National Ready Mixed Concrete Assn. (NRMCA) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). I am a Fellow of ACI and a certified NRMCA Concrete Technologist Level 3.Participation in social media is a requirement in today’s world of sales and marketing.
