During my internship at the Indiana Children’s Policy and Law Initiative in Indianapolis, I had the opportunity to work closely with the Positive School Discipline sector. My role involved conducting in-depth research on policy issues, legislation, and case law to support the initiative’s goals and vision. This included analyzing current educational policies, understanding recent legislative changes, and reviewing relevant case law to inform our strategies. Additionally, I played a key role in organizing and participating in various meetings, events, conferences, and fundraisers, ensuring that each event effectively advanced our mission. I also attended weekly one-hour supervision sessions designed to enhance my Social Work competencies, where I discussed my progress, received constructive feedback, and set goals for professional development. This comprehensive experience not only enriched my understanding of policy and its practical applications but also honed my skills in organizing impactful events and deepening my expertise in social work.

The mission of Marian University’s Unity Center is to affirm the inclusivity of each person of marginalized identities in the Marian community, foster personal discovery and growth, promote scholarship and creativity across a diverse range of identities and provide inclusive space for Marian commuter students.• Staffed the center 13 hours a week, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment• Attended regular cultural competency trainings, staff trainings, meetings and team bonding activities• Organize and execute existing, new, and large scale programs in accordance to the Unity Center’sprogramming pillar system
