My role was to craft and develop a 5-year portfolio of products able to meet the Business Unit’s (BU) P&L target trajectory and delivering to its strategic ambitions.⬛ Formulated strategic proposals for product line growth, grounded in insight and analyses of consumer needs and behaviours⬛ Monitored key competitor proposition developments and benchmark versus own proposition. Track competitor sales, price and volumes.⬛ Qualitative and quantitative exploration of white space areas. Creation of concept briefs to direct the Concept Innovation Team, considering core, adjacent and transformational opportunities.

My role was to initiate and drive transformation initiatives aiming to make the BU’s operations more effective and consumer-centric.🟦 Developed a consumer needs framework, identifying the relevant product benefits and attributes. Used to articulate the product portfolio, ensuring coherence and differentiation.🟦 Shape and manage a team of engineers covering the ‘Product Engineering’ and ‘Data’ functions. Support live projects with data science initiatives, product requirements, Bill of Material (BOM) and cost management. These activities built valuable insights about owners and usage, fed those into project requirements, and resulted in value engineering exercises trading off perceived value and cost of product features.🟦 Accountable for the technical maturity of the portfolio of live projects, I influenced technology choices and organised the development of verification capabilities. 🟦 Coached design and technical engineers to deliver against internal processes.📣 In addition to the strategic activities above, I regularly support the Press & Communications team by hosting content creators, key opinion leaders or by representing Dyson in TV features.

My role was to shape a strategy to deliver Dyson Airstrait™, a brand-new product format, from napkin sketch to mass manufacturing. 🟨 Led a team of approx. 15 multi-disciplinary engineers through the development of the technologies, of the technical performance and risk management in the project.🟨 Acted as a technical authority. Arbitrated technology choices by ensuring a thorough investigation of every options considered and an unbiased and transparent judgement call.🟨 Mitigated all identified safety risks in the projects. Architected and delivered one regulatory safety system (software & hardware based).🟨 Employed my experience and my broad understanding of all engineering disciplines and tools to coach and guide engineers.🟨 Collaborated with Commercial and Technology teams to shape a vision both commercially attractive and technically feasible.

Today’s products are of increasing technical complexity, they use advanced technologies and are characterised by highly coupled sub-systems. My role was to provide a development framework aiming to minimise oversights, misconceptions, and eventually late design changes.Use of MBSE-inspired tools and resources, functional analyses, development of system performance models.

The Dyson Supersonic™ marked the company’s disruptive entry in the incredibly competitive world of beauty products. My role was to lead the product through final development, transfer to Operations, pre-production and mass manufacturing (2M+ units / year). 🟥 I invented and patented breakthrough technical solutions and design details.🟥 ‘Low sound’ is the #2 favourite attribute mentioned by owners about the product.🟥 Tested the product for life and under different usage scenarios, guaranteeing that the acoustic performances do not decline over time or use. Ensured acoustic performances are conform and homogeneous throughout the different engineering builds📣 In addition to my technical duties on the project, I regularly supported the Communications and Marketing departments by participating to the following activities in our North Asian markets (China, Japan, Korea, Hong-Kong, Taiwan): 🟥 Launch events to introduce our new technologies to the press🟥 Design workshop in universities to emulate the participation to the James Dyson Award

My role was to Iead the acoustic development of 10+ products (hair dryers, fans, vacuum cleaners, hand driers) at all stages of the lifecycle, ranging from concept to mass manufacturing. Direct contributions and skills in the role included:⬛ Identification of noise sources, modelling, measurement, reduction.⬛ Design for acoustics, development of passive silencing solutions.⬛ Ensuring robustness of the acoustic solutions and consistency of the acoustic performances, thinking large scale manufacturing and product reliability.

The project I worked on consisted in characterising and reducing the acoustic sources of an automobile climate control device (HVAC). My main duties were: ⦿ Planning and carrying out acoustic tests in a semi-anechoic chamber specifically designed to accommodate HVACs. ⦿ DOE methodology - identifying the architectural parameters impacting acoustic performances the most. ⦿ Acoustic testing of individual sub-components: compressor assembly, heat exchanger.
