My studies have led to experience in various fields, including ecology, biology, chemistry, and genetics. I have a substantial history of work experience in a laboratory setting performing various procedures and using quantitative skills. During my studies in the past few years at Hawaii Pacific University, I have worked in multiple labs providing assistance to a variety of professors and their research projects. Most recently, I have worked as a research assistant at the Oceanic Institute in Waimanalo. Working in the molecular lab, I conduct genetic protocols to observe the diets of seabirds. I also assist the research associate in developing genetic micro-satellites to aid in the research of Acanthuridae fishes. Some of my other responsibilities included maintaining lab equipment, sample collection, lab organization, and analysis of data involved in multiple projects. I am very familiar with various computer programs on both Mac and PC platforms, including R, Adobe Suite, running bioinformatic pipelines, and Microsoft Office.
