Police Officer• Patrol the University community to detect and deter criminal activity and address traffic violations.• Respond to calls for service dispatched by communications officers, including traffic collisions, domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, lost or missing persons, stranded motorists, and others.• Initiate preliminary investigations into traffic collisions, criminal activity, and other incidents by conducting interviews, gathering evidence and securing crime scenes.• Provide traffic direction and escort services as needed for events.• Testify in judicial proceedings when needed.• Complete all necessary accident and incident reports.• Checks areas and buildings for security.• Other duties as assigned.Training Officer• Provide training and supervise individual officers while they are in the PTO training program. • Complete required documentation (Coaching and Training Report, Midterm Evaluations, Final Evaluation).• Instruct officers in training in departmental policy, procedures, daily operations and state law.• Monitor all paperwork completed by officers in training and have corrections made as needed.• Provide coaching and counseling for officers in training on topics that need improvement.• Coordinate with the Training Sergeant any remedial training needed.Critical Incident Reconstruction Team• Utilize the Laser Technologies Measuring System.• Operate the Crash Zone program to complete scale diagrams of serious crime and crash scenes.
