As an Equipment Specialist at Blue Octopus Scuba, I have many responsibilities. Firstly, I manage all rental gear, including ensuring it is properly cleaned, prepped for future classes, and undergoes annual maintenance. When necessary, I assist instructors during their training as a safety diver. In terms of administrative tasks, I coordinate recreational and professional dives, including international recreational dives, volunteer archaeological dives, and recovery support at the Naval Research Lab. I am also responsible for maintaining inventory and sales records to ensure that the shop's future needs are met. Whenever new hires or Skill Bridge members join us, I train them to use our operating system and navigate our sales techniques. I also act as a liaison between the service technicians and the customers to facilitate issue resolution and ensure a swift turnaround time for serviced gear. Lastly, I create marketing content for special events, holidays, and sales.

Prepared samples from ocean cores provided by the International Oceanic Discovery Program for a paleoclimate study on the movement of the intertropical convergence zone. Created and disposed of necessary chemical solutions for the extraction of Barium, Thorium, and Uranium. Performed necessary processes for extraction, this included column chromatography, drying processes, and data analysis/storage post mass spectrometer. Trained new staff members on sample preparation techniques.

Managed the zebrafish population, ensuring optimal environmental conditions and performing regular maintenance tasks. Monitored and recorded changes to fish, supply usage, and pH balances of filtration systems. Cared for tropical fish throughout all biology buildings on weekends.
