Resumes are able to give hiring managers a good idea of highlighted accomplishments, but the format lacks the ability to communicate pervasive themes, no matter how relevant. Let’s endeavor to highlight the qualities I can bring to your organization.Leadership - Going back to my time in the Movies, er, Movie Theaters, I can show a long history of successful leadership. I worked up to General Manager prior to even achieving my Associates Degree. I wanted to dive down the rabbit hole of technology, and to turn my growing ability to teach and lead into something truly fruitful and creative. These goals became justifications for restarting my education after its short but necessary hiatus. Leadership remained a prevalent theme with student government, teaching assistant positions, and even later at Atypon in my capacity as Director. Curiosity and Analysis - Northwestern then Atypon showed me just how much more there was to learn. University led me to explore any interest, but I was firmly grounded in mathematics and engineering, which became ML and AI. Working at Atypon cemented this, as I learned actual data management and analytics on the job. My success with SQL and Analytics led to Search, where I flourished by bringing mathematics back into my work. Recommendations, related works, vectorization, automated topic modeling, and browse-experience optimization via classification became the projects that thrust me back into leadership.Perceptiveness and Creativity - My first true software engineering problem came during my tenure at Century Theaters: addressing the loss of certain needed software functionality. In 2006 Cinemark purchased Century Theaters and brought with it a fully revamped human resources and scheduling module. A GM wouldn’t be expected to build a solution to this problem, but a concurrently enrolled student at Foothill College who eventually succeeded in a transfer to a Big-10 University certainly would. I saw requirements, emulated a successful design, and built in new features I always wanted to have access to. At Atypon my work with search alerted me to problems with our discovery platform - many disparate implementations with similar aims - customers wanted to partition and browse through content. I turned our clients’ clear desires into a fully customizable platform, and as a side effect made our implemented solutions significantly more maintainable.Looking for an exciting opportunity to build things, whether as an individual contributor or as a leader of a team.
