The Institute communicates in a mix of digital, written, and in-person approaches—creating, curating, sharing, and exchanging insights in close collaboration with partners and clients.I often speak on behalf of the firm, for example, as Keynote speaker at USAID Digital Development Conference; and as a Panelist at the United Nations General Assembly side-event on digitization, and at WTO’s e-Commerce Week.I value the close working relationship and professional camaraderie we have established as team-members at Caribou Digital. In this spirit, I work with researchers and professionals from diverse disciplinary and personal backgrounds, building organizational capacity while accelerating others’ careers.

As Caribou Digital's Senior Director of Research, I helped set the company’s research agenda, creating, refining, and delivering research outputs, in close collaboration with partners and clients.

In 2022-2023 I was a Visiting Faculty Fellow at The Hitachi Center for Technology and International Affairs at the Fletcher School at Tufts University. For the 2023-2024 academic year I am an affiliate at the Center, advising several Masters students on capstone projects around "Development in a Digital Age".

In MSR’s labs around the world, over 800 researchers in computer science, engineering, and the social sciences explore cutting-edge problems in computing.As a Researcher in the Technology for Emerging Markets Group at Microsoft Research India, I designed and carried out qualitative, quantitative, and experimental research with twin-mandates to inform Microsoft product development and to benefit the broader scholarly communityWhile at MSR I published 3 books and 30+ articles in computer science and social science literatures on ‘technology for development’, citizen journalism, mobile health, mobile banking, inclusive digital design for low-resource communities, microenterprise development, and everyday use of digital technologies in emerging markets

The Earth Institute addresses issues in health, engineering, Earth sciences, and the social sciences, with a particular focus on sustainable development.As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, I conducted some of the earliest scholarship on mobile phone use in emerging markets, including a 2005 review in The Information Society (cited c. 1,000 times), and coordinated Columbia's research role on an M-health initiative in Rwanda for USAID in collaboration with Tulane and Voxiva, Inc.

A spin off of the Monitor Group, OTF Group advised governments, multilaterals, and industry associations throughout the developing world on export strategies and economic competitiveness.As a senior consultant with OTF I conducted a national E-readiness assessment for the Government of Rwanda, and developed social analysis methodologies for the World Bank’s Social Development Group

Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte) advises Fortune-100 companies and governments.As a consultant, my special emphasis was on consumer marketing strategy, advanced quantitative survey methodologies, customer profiles, and segmentation. I had additional experience in market forecasting and financial modeling. Industry experience in telecommunications, health insurance, and financial services.I steered development sector work including customer research for a microfinance client in Colombia, business environment surveys for the US Council on Competitiveness, and multi-sector stakeholder surveys and workshop facilitation in Venezuela, El Salvador, Israel, and Macedonia.
