After a long and rewarding time at ZoomInfo, I took space to spend time with my family, focus on areas of personal interest, and work on some projects.During my time off, I worked with a group of technology professionals and businesspeople working with Ukrainian volunteers and businesses on a platform to improve logistics and delivery for non-lethal front-line needs. I also developed a consumer electronics product, for which I'm pursuing a patent.

Oversaw the expansion of ZoomInfo’s offerings to support ~$675m in revenue, growing from one core platform to nine, running on three cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and Azure). Participated in ZoomInfo’s acquisition by DiscoverOrg, the successful combination of the two platforms and teams, and the integration of several subsequently acquired properties. Managed five teams totaling 34 staff across the US and overseas, through IPO, and the transition to fully remote work during COVID. Worked with the CISO's office to achieve SOC II type 2 compliance. Worked with finance to dramatically improve cost management for existing and new platforms. Improved observability through a dedicated team to cover all managed platforms.

Led the scaling of ZoomInfo’s infrastructure to support hundreds of millions in yearly revenue, while improving stability, observability, security, and developer agility. Growing the team to 12 members, led Engineering through the migration of a complex data processing infrastructure to the cloud. Oversaw production engineering for the platform’s second version, providing the scalability necessary to hit revenue targets. Integrated a comprehensive observability system for the platform. Oversaw the deployment of a second generation build and deploy system, which improved time to market over the original, and provided security and license compliance.

Joined ZoomInfo to improve the stability and scalability of a world-class data processing and search platform. Successfully advocated for a migration from on-premise virtual infrastructure to the cloud. Guided a team of 5 engineers through justification exercises, architectural design, proofs of concept, and the migration of our core customer-facing infrastructure to GCP. Developed the organization’s first automated build and deploy systems. Saw significant increases in stability and scalability, and cost reduction vs. the planned on-site solution.

Led a team in transforming a legacy, 20+ site, multi-national virtual infrastructure built through acquisition into a standardized, enterprise-class cloud platform with repeatable acquisition integration processes. Consolidated virtual platforms comprising 2,000+ instances across 20+ U.S. datacenters into a multi-site stretch datacenter solution to meet stringent SLA requirements for critical healthcare applications. Created and maintained technology roadmaps. Delivered and led execution of platform design and implementation plans. Worked to automate and streamline application platform deployment and capacity management.

Consulted in architectural and engineering roles. Developed a well-reviewed calendar for iOS. Taught a successful course on virtualization and cloud computing at the MITRE corporation. Developed a course on virtualization and cloud security.

Consulted with government sponsors on architectural and procedural aspects of high-sensitivity enterprise virtualization and cloud solutions, focusing on business continuity and disaster recovery. Taught a well-reviewed course on virtualization and cloud computing.

Architected MITRE’s highly available multi-datacenter VMware vSphere (~1,800 instance) and vCloud (~2,500 instance) platforms. Built and led a seven-member team to implement and maintain those environments according to enterprise best practices. Delivered program and project proposals and performed environment design, proofs-of-concept, product selection, cost justification, procurement, and project planning for each platform. Worked closely with implementation teams for each technology layer. Collaborated on the architecture of a multi-site NetApp MetroCluster to meet the requirements of the platforms’ SLAs. Selected and implemented a Cisco UCS compute layer for efficiency and scale response time improvements. Designed and implemented an in-house compute/storage building block to reduce costs and improve scalability for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop. Designed a low-cost, in-house bulk storage solution to meet customer SLAs and stringent cost targets. Developed automation tools using VMware Perl APIs. Consulted with government sponsors on virtualization architecture and enterprise best practices. Taught a very well-reviewed course on virtualization and cloud computing.

Provided Linux domain expertise and oversight of the Solaris-based UNIX team’s transition of all supported products to Redhat Linux. Served as the administrator for MITRE’s PeopleSoft implementation. Performed product review and selection for a datacenter consolidation to IBM hardware. Advocated for and implemented a consolidated datacenter-wide KVM server access platform. Reviewed VMware ESX as a potential cost saving measure for the datacenter.

Wrote and maintained software used to analyze system logs for intrusion detection and troubleshooting in MITRE’s IT infrastructure. Managed Solaris-based development systems.

Managed college IT systems, including Digital UNIX, Solaris, and SunOS platforms. Wrote and maintained software used to automate college administrative tasks.

Advocated for and implemented Linux as a platform to replace legacy AIX and Macintosh platforms. Managed email, network, and web services. Developed web pages for Ithaca businesses.
