Tackling projects across a full stack of technologies was a regular part of being on the software development team for GoSecure's Managed Detection & Response (MDR) service. Initially, I was the primary developer for MDR service's client-facing dashboard where I designed and implemented new features, as well as setup and maintain deployments for dozens of clients.To provide some context, here are some examples of how I improved the user experience (UX) for with the MDR Dashboard:• Creating documentation describing the layout, features, and displays in the dashboard• Updating server configurations to improve security so clients can be confident that their data is secure• Reducing the size of custom JavaScript and CSS files to decease loading times in the frontend• Migrating from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.2 and optimizing code for faster execution and data handling in the backendOver time, I expanded my responsibilities into more of a DevOps role creating automation tools to support the MDR service's cyber security analyst team. My efforts contributed to:• Weekly and monthly reporting sent to clients• Service metrics used by account managers, service directors, and C-suite execs• Decreased workloads for MDR cyber security analysts• Faster software updates and increased service uptime for clientsIn my spare time, I enjoy reading about new ideas and concepts, such as how to improve the design of programs, or new tools & technologies to make my life (and work) more productive, or random topics I come across in BBC and CBC news articles.
