My responsibilities included the assessment and care of a patient assignment of 8 (days) to 12 (nights). Included, but not limited to medication administration, blood transfusions, trach care, tube feedings, decubitus care, meeting the needs of isolation patients, ADLs, PIC, mediport, and CVL care, blood sugar monitoring, dressing changes, ambutation care, and telemetry monitoring. While working in the PACU my responsibilities included caring for 2 general surgery adult or pediatric patients or 2 adult cardiothoracic post operative patients. Care included post anesthesia assessments, 15 minute interval surgical site assessments, ALine, Swan-Gantz, LA line and chest tube monitoring. ABG drawing, monitoring and ventilator weaning. In addition cared for neurosurgery, orthopedic, plastic, gastrointestinal, Gyn, GU surgical patients. This care required pain management skills, PCA pump set up and monitoring, ICP monitoring, neuro assessments, doppler pulse checks of graft sites, and effective reports given to receiving units.
