This model of development was replicated several times over for the charity resulting in creation of a corporate development strategy and appointment of two excellent new trust and corporate and corporate relationship managers.This very effective model of securing sustainable and maximised partnerships is undoubtedly a winner for both client's and their corporate partners. Currently I have committed to raise the profile of SANDS and to raising awareness in order that the shocking statistics of 15 babies dying in the UK every single day -15 families torn apart, their extended family, friends, colleagues and clinical staff left devastated. Consultant to Group B Strep Support-Campaigning to eradicate GBS during pregnancy. Detected from vaginal or rectal swabs) during pregnancy, women should be offered intravenous antibiotics in labour. These massively reduce the risk of a newborn baby developing Group B Strep. There are no symptoms of carrying GBS, so the only way to find out is by testing. Babies developing Group B Strep infection usually 2 weeks post birth can develop pneumonia, meningitis and other fatal or life limiting conditions. A recent Parliamentary Petition asked UK Government to raise awareness and invest in routine swabbing of expectant mothers. This was rejected and the campaign continues. Scottish Government has also refused to offer routine swabbing. These tests cost circa £20, what price to preserve a baby's life? Many babies die and others are compromised for life.
