I started Handicapped Friends Pen Pal Club in 1990 because of prejudice I found in existing pen pal clubs, due to be being not only a large woman, but also because I was disabled. I wanted a club where anyone could join, no matter their age, disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or station in life. I publish a quarterly newsletter and all that I do for the club is volunteer. I've had severe rheumatoid arthritis for 45 years and now am bed bound from the RA and a broken leg that hasn't healed in 7 1/2 years. I still live a full life despite my limitations. I'm thankful for all I still can do. My motto in life is: "Most all of us are disabled in one way or another, some of us just show it more is all".
