It sits in the northeast corner of the state of New York, across Lake Champlain from Burlington, Vt.

Did legal research and writing in support of this law firm’s work in everything from contract disputes to personal injury and divorce.Managed 50-plus cases at a time. For personal injury cases, I was responsible for keeping clients’ cases moving by helping monitor where clients’ recoveries from injuries stood. I collected evidence such as medical records, police reports and vehicle-repair estimates.I wrote demand letters, where we presented our clients’ side of events and offered to settle the matters. I also negotiated settlements.When cases went to court, I assisted with discovery, meaning pre-trial investigations. I would provide requests to the other side for information, such as written questions for them to answer.I also worked with clients to provide answers to discovery requests from the people who we were going up against.Another job of mine was preparing clients to testify in court.I researched and wrote arbitration briefs, where we would lay out our side of events for a person appointed to help settle disputes.I wrote similar documents when we were trying cases before judges. For instance, I put together filings where we made motions, meaning asking judges to do things like throwing the other side’s case out.
