Recently formed the Cooper Team at ReeceNichols with wife DeeDee Cooper, who has 13 years of extensive real estate experience in the KC area. The team brings a combination of real estate and business experience to advocate on behalf of our clients, either as buyers or sellers. Co-Director of Corporate Work Study Program at Cristo Rey Kansas City High School, a private inner city college prep school serving poverty level students and sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. Responsibilities included creating partnerships with organizations who provided internships for students, preparing students to enter the work world and monitoring the internships to ensure both the sponsor and student benefit. Grew program to 390 student internship positions with 125 organizations. Organizations included banks, hospitals, law firms, schools, non-profits throughout the Kansas City metro.

Identify and quantify risks within largest publicly owned portfolio of personal insurance risks in US. Designed, marketed and managed $800m+ reinsurance program placed globally. Also managed creation of two special purpose entities (Willow Re I and II) that issues $500m in "Cat bonds". Responsibilities included contribution to investor disclosures and credit management. Represent P&C operations on internal Risk Committees, and also served on board of industry organizations.

Overland Park Kansas

Design, place and manage Retrocessions and Reinsurance for GEIS, annual budget of $1B+. Manage ceded credit exposures and statutory credits for reinsurance, rating agency information, various state and federal reporting. Created and managed assumed reinsurance and insurance risk exposure measurements and reporting internally and externally. Managed staff of 10 located in Overland Park KS and Munich, Germany. Six Sigma Blackbelt. Assisted in sale of GEIS to Swiss Re and in numerous other entity sales and acquisitions.

Managed Treaty and Fac Reinsurance Underwriting for Kemper Re US, staff of 36 and annual revenues of $600m. Designed, placed and managed retrocessions for Kemper Re Group, including London and Liege based affiliates. For 2 years also managed ceded reinsurance for Kemper Primary Companies (Lumbermans Mutual Group). Included numerous Finite retros. Managed risk aggregates, credit exposures and broker relations, rating agency and statutory reporting. Assisted in sale of company to GEIS. Board of Directors for all Kemper Re entities globally.

Created Ceded Reinsurance Management Department, hired and managed staff of 3 and ceded premium volume of $300m annually. Extensive marketing of risks globally in both direct and broker market. One of first to purchase and implement RMS cat model.

Seattle Wa

Managed 4 accounts, including Transamerica Group with staff of 4. Managed accounting, contract writing, placement negotiations and day to day activities for $3m in annual brokerage. Rebooted inhouse training program and purchased first reinsurance modeling software and hired actuary to start modeling department.
