Jeff Curry is the Alternative Energy Coordinator at Lakeland Electric, an electric utility located in central Florida. Originally hired as an Energy Analyst in 1992, Jeff now manages all of Lakeland’s solar energy projects, officially filling this role in 1997 when the position became permanent. He continually monitors regulatory affairs and legislative developments related to renewable energy. Lakeland Electric is the host to two prominent solar energy projects: a 24-megawatt, utility-scale solar photovoltaic contract and a widely acclaimed residential solar hot water energy service. Jeff directs the business and operational activities of these contracts and is the recognized contact person for all solar projects based in Lakeland. With a utility-focused strategy in hand, the Lakeland Solar Water Heating Program was crafted by a collective of Lakeland’s senior managers and State of Florida energy researchers expedited by Jeff’s career background with metered solar energy services.As a speaker Jeff contributes at various gatherings, sharing project specifics & subtleties with utility program managers, energy advocacy groups, government and business leaders. Jeff has also authored research reports and other energy trade articles that focus on utility-centric solar activities.
