It is a grower-owned business with distribution to customers both internationally and domestically. I was responsible to oversee all operations including Production, Quality, Sales, Distribution, Marketing, HR, Finance and Administration. Additionally, I was the acting Sales Manager responsible for all revenue generation. I've sold over 38 million lbs. of walnuts over the past 2 seasons resulting in highly competitive returns to our owners and growers. Through my strong network and connections, I successfully brought in large discerning customers while growing the supply side of our business by targeting and signing up large local walnut producers/growers. With my leadership we significantly increased our new customer base, both foreign and domestic and developed an outstanding reputation for delivering first quality CA Walnuts. As part of our marketing strategy, we have added a new “premium” branded product with a new packaging design which has been readily accepted in premium markets like Japan and Korea. I’ve focused our domestic marketing strategy on improving our sales to the Food-service industry and was awarded multiple USDA/AMS bid solicitations, a first for Omega Walnut. All the while leaning on my Accounting background and managing credit risk. Omega Walnut suffered no contract defaults nor bad debt.

Following the departure of our then CEO in 2012, the Board selected me as the interim CEO. At the time I was the acting CFO. After one year as the interim CEO the Board elected me as the permanent CEO. Since my tenure as CEO I've been actively pursuing improvement in the facility that grow our capacity, reduce costs and improve our overall productivity. Working closely with my management team we've redesigned our facility and added new equipment to replace old, inefficient assets. Additionally, we've recently added a state-of-the art pasteurizer that will benefit the Company for years by eliminating the risk of human pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella, E-Coli and Listeria, Our customers and consumers alike appreciate our commitment to food safety. In addition to the operating improvements, we've seen a significant increase in our customer base due to our quality improvements, good manufacturing practices and customer service. Since I've been CEO, profits and overall net worth have increased and we've effectively doubled the returns to Company stakeholders,In early 2016 I approached the Wilco CEO about merging our two cooperatives, HGO and Wilco. I led the merger effort and was instrumental in negotiating with the two boards. Working closely with the Wilco CEO, we developed a merger plan suitable for both companies that ultimately resulted in nearly 100% approval of the merger by our cooperative members. Following the completion of the merger in Aug 2016 we began construction on a new state-of-the-art hazelnut processing facility in Donald, Oregon. I led the team in site selection, planning the building layout as well as vendor selection for the new equipment. Working closely with the Wilco CEO and CFO we were able to secure a long term debt structure that a highly competitive rate. This new facility is now the flagship for Oregon Hazelnut Processing and increases production and storage capacity by nearly triple.
