CurrentChief legal officer for the oldest state agency in Texas.• Member of the Texas General Land Office’s Executive Team responsible for developing and implementing strategic decisions to guide the Texas General Land Office and its employees. • Daily management of the legal department of large Texas agency with over 700 employees, including direct management of twenty attorneys and support staff• Serve as general counsel to two public boards, working regularly with board members and board secretary to ensure compliance with Texas open government laws• Significant experience drafting legislation and testifying before the Texas Legislature• Responsible for all aspects of the Alamo project for the GLO since 2014, including the successful management of three separate appropriations from the Texas Legislature totaling $160MM to fund the Alamo project. Responsible for the creation of and development of the non-profit corporation that manages the Alamo for GLO.• Direct oversight of GLO’s administration and distribution of billions of dollars in federal disaster recovery grant funding• Directly supported the GLO’s Chief Investment Officer in managing $8-9 billion in private equity investments • Negotiated and closed several multimillion-dollar real estate partnerships, acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of GLO’s Asset Enhancement Division• Supervise HR Attorney and regularly advise on Employment Law issues, as well as drafting of Employee Handbook, Policies and Procedures• Supervise GLO Public Information Officer and advise on Texas Public Information Act issues
