Design Engineer
Junior Product Engineer
Daily responsibilities included modelling, producing drawings for, quality assuring and installing on location, systems for usage in lumber planer mills. Designing of new products and 3D printed prototyping were also a part of my responsibilities. Gained greater proficiency with administrative aspects of the SOLIDWORKS ecosystem and further developed my skills with the solid, sheet metal and weldment workflows. Was regularly required to recreate pieces or whole machines from hand measurements and 3D point cloud data for production on our floor. Consistently built relationship with machinists and fabricators to better assist in their workflows and provide clarify information and redline drawing changes.
Co-Captain, Blade Subteam Captain
One of three Captains for the first ever dedicated Materials Engineering team at UBC which entered into the TMS Bladesmithing competition. Each captain on the team managed one of three subteams. I lead a technical subteam made of students from across the engineering disciplines to analyze, test and experiment on the microstructure of a blade using micrography and destructive and nondestructive mechanical testing methods. This team also designed the geometric profile of the teams 2022 competition entry and designated the mechanical properties necessary for the blade to operate in the conditions of its theorized environment.I also managed funding applications and, along with my co-captains, liaising with the UBC Applied Science Engineering Design Team Committee, the oversight body for all UBC Engineering design teams.
Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Manufacturing and design engineer with Modular Driven Technologies working with their various rifle chassis and other products. Was a key component in the design of the MDT Competition Muzzle brake. Collected data, analyzed and drew conclusions that informed the brakes geometry and performance. Did extensive work with stereolithography and extrusion based 3D printers. Work extensively with the SOLIDWORKS and PDM file management environments furthering my skills in those areas.
Materials Engineering & Project Managment Intern
Have graciously been accepted back at PMP for the summer work term during the COVID-19 pandemic. Have maintained similar responsibilities with PMP as I had last summer.
Suspension Subteam Member
Working as a suspension subteam member I have been a key contributor to various Solidworks models, jigging systems, and manufacturing processes. I have devised hardware testing apparatus and taught junior members team practices and conventions. My favorite project to work on was the tie-rod pull out testing apparatus. I also made sure to educate myself in usage of the water jet cutters, various metal working tools, and the basics of TIG welding.
Materials Engineering & Project Management Intern
Spent a total of 8 months with PMP, developing new communication skills and strengthening old ones. I also improved significantly on my computer literacy skills as I was tasked with implementing new technology and computer tracking systems to the PMP shop environment. Alongside of this I advised on a materials engineering specific problem concerning welding practices. The conclusion I came to of my own research and knowledge was then confirmed to be correct in my January semester of classes. I also taught myself how to use Visual Basic for Excel.
Various Positions
Over the past eight summers I have been involved in a wide variety of positions at camp. This variety has solidified skills in time management, goal oriented planning, and administration. It has produced top communications, leadership and teaching skills. The numerous years of fun summers have also cemented my outgoing, passionate and energetic personality.
Farm Hand
As a general farm hand I was involved in mixing food, cleaning cages, and refilling bedding for approximately four thousand mink. Responsibilities also included occasionally coming in on weekends to mix feed as well as cleaning the farm area.
