In the Public Interest is a national nonprofit research and policy organization that studies public goods and services.We help community organizations, advocacy groups, public officials, researchers, and the general public understand how the privatization of public goods impacts service quality, democracy, equity, and government budgets.We also advocate for strengthening, adequately funding, and building popular support for a government that works for all of us.

I have written articles, speeches, event scripts, commentaries, op/eds, reviews, and concert previews for, among others, CAN Journal, Edible Cleveland, Rolling Stone, Marketplace radio program, WCPN, the Plain Dealer, the Forward, ArtNews, Fodor's travel publications, the annual Cleveland Arts Prize Awards, and Front, the Cleveland Triennial exhibition.

Transformed a college alumni communications vehicle into a fresh, up-to-date, 38,000-circulation magazine through imaginative story selection and execution, eye-catching design choices, provocative and witty headlines, subheads, and captions, easy-going collaboration, and an intelligent, consistent editorial voice representing the complexity and uniqueness of Oberlin College. Awards include top honors from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and University & Colleges Design Association (UCDA). As a member of the communications team, I have also assisted with admissions communications, social media, digital ad copy, print ad copy for advancement, and alumni association communications. I am part of committee updating Oberlin's editorial style guide, with an emphasis on using bias-free language. I am also a member a small team tasked with improving our office culture and communications efforts with regard to diversity and inclusion.

Presented the research output of an academic and community research center in readily understood briefs in a variety of formats accessible to non-academic audiences, particularly policy-makers, political leaders, and the media. Pitched articles and represented the center to local press. The Center is part of the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, for which I also led communications efforts during my final year on staff.

Worked as part of the team that opened the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Helped to coordinate media-intensive Grand Opening, other special events, and ongoing exhibitions and education efforts, including travel logistics, facilitating museum tours for press and VIPs, serving as spokesperson, and writing press releases, collateral materials, and web copy. Accompanied tours for publicity and member programs, including an international tour of Ken Kesey's "Grandfurthur" bus trip to publicize the museum's psychedelic exhibit, and a members' tour of the Southern Roots of Rock and Roll. Served as editor of museum membership newsletter and website content. Assisted with media coordination at Hall of Fame ceremonies.

Staff writer and columnist for the alternative weekly Cleveland Edition, associate editor and columnist for successor alternative weekly Cleveland Free Times, and Associate Editor for Ohio Week, a 400,000-circulation supplement to the Thomson Newspapers chain Ohio newspapers.

Worked in various capacities on numerous electoral and legislative efforts, including Townsend for Congress (Maryland) as a field staffer, director of Ohio Freeze Voter connecting peace activists to the Re-Elect Senator Metzenbaum campaign; delegate selection coordination for Paul Simon for President; lobbying effort for Handgun Control of Ohio (home rule-related legislation, including persuading three Ohio papers to editorialize in our favor). Since 1990 I have volunteered on local field efforts for a variety of candidates and ballot issues, including in every presidential election race, doing neighborhood organizing (through MoveOn), phonebanking, canvassing, lit-dropping, visibility efforts, and election day leafleting or poll watching.
