Vice President Of Evse Engineering
Current
Senior Director Of Engineering
I lead a global team of engineers working to develop hardware for electric motorcycle battery swapping in Latin America. This team of hardware engineers and the partners we selected developed and manufactured a charging cabinet, interoperable battery and customized motorcycles to create this network. The team owned all firmware of the critical components in order to best controll the customer experience.
Staff Mechanical Engineer - Residential Solar Applications Engineering
I developed and led a small team of engineers working on installation tools and processes for the Solar Roof program. I worked within the design engineering team that was developing the next generation roof design. My team worked closely with the mechanical and electrical engineering teams to integrate the installation processes directly to the product design. The next generation solar roof product depends on custom tools developed by my team in order to achieve the fast install times necessary to achieve profitability. These custom tools that are used around the United States to install, inspect and service Solar Roof. We spent a lot of time on roofs testing our tools and learning from installers experience.
Senior Technical Program Manager
Working within the Tesla energy team I lead the program to develop the 250kW V3 supercharger system. I was responsible for managing the schedule of the power cabinet and coordinating the interdependencies of all the independent subcomponents in the supercharger system including the charge post, the power electronics and the installation products and processes.
Program Manager, Power Electronics
During this time, I program managed the supercharger generation 2 improving the power capability from 90kW to 120kW and then eventually to 144kW. I also managed a variety of charge post projects, helping to prepare the supercharger network for transition into international markets. I was also involved in the development of a variety of AC and DC adaptors needed for charging in international markets.
Zone Leader - General Assembly 4 Production Line - Temporary
Temporary role - Lead a team of design and manufacturing engineers and technicians in creating a production line in a tent to bolster the GA production capabilities of the Fremont Factory. The production line created the first product 2 weeks after the project began and was eventually slowly phased into a permanent facility.
Shift Lead - Model 3 Battery Pack Cta Installation Crew - Temporary Position
During the critical Model 3 "production hell", the decision was made to pivot back to a more manual (Less automation) battery module production line. In order to achieve this objective, members from across the company were pulled together to install production lines of various parts of the battery pack assembly line. I was asked to be one of the 4 shift leads installing the Cell to Tube Attachment section. A team of ~20 installers and commissioning technicians reported to me while we worked the C shift (a night shift) and sprinted to pull production numbers higher.
Associate Project Manager, Engineering Services
Working mainly on the Supercharger project during this time, with a small amount of support on the on-Board charger and the home charging products. Also during this time, I was supporting the supercharger deployment effort by flying to commission new supercharger sites in Washington, Oregon, Connecticut, Florida, Texas and California. I also helped develop the commissioning process and was a part of the interview panel for the new deployment team.
Mechanical Engineering Intern
For this internship, I was working with the team developing the engine for the Indian Chieftain motorcycle (the 108 cubic inch engine). I was also a part of an exercise to benchmark a variety of motorcycles to help with the architecture of a product that would eventually turn into the Indian Scout. I filled in on a variety of other roles during my time there, including working on electrical wire harnesses and testing the EV Ranger.
Business Manager
As a co-founder of Clerisy and the Manger of Business, I was involved in the many logistics behind the creation of a company. The formation of Clerisy Innovation Studios wass a dream that three co-founders had in the back of our minds for a very long time, and it finally became a reality when one of inventions we are working on began to really take root.
Mechanical Engineering Intern
Intern in the Hand tools department. Constructed many displays for the Franchisee fair in August 2011. Worked on failure analysis of under-warranty returned components.
Mechanical Engineering Co-Op
As an ME co-op in New Product Development at IR's headquarters in Davidson, NC, I was able to experience many different sides to the business world, mainly focusing on engineering design and testing. I also got a good inside look at the inner workings of a massive and successful company, from which I learned more career directing knowledge than I did from the actual work I was doing.
