Jeff Link is an award-winning writer, editor, and content strategist based in Chicago. His work has appeared in WIRED, Fast Company, Dwell, Architect, and many other publications. He tells humanly drawn stories about how design and technology affect people, places, and the environment. His story "Lethal Glass Landscapes" earned a 2021 Jesse H. Neal Award, the highest editorial honor in business-to-business journalism; he has also been selected as a finalist for a Folio Eddie Award. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop with a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction.Jeff’s expertise as a storyteller draws on writing and editing experience in varied professional settings. Most recently, as a senior editor at Toptal, he directed the editorial development of high-visibility blogs, guides, and web pages for the global talent agency’s design vertical. Earlier in his career, as a staff reporter for Built In, he covered UX design and product management for the popular tech website. His widely circulated stories feature commentary from designers and executives at companies such as Meta, Slack, Adobe, Square, and GitHub. As a business owner, he has consulted on creative copywriting projects for dozens of clients. Jeff also has extensive leadership and project management experience. As a development officer for the Chicago Botanic Garden, Jeff collaborated with staff at all levels of the organization to prepare inquiry letters, grant proposals, and program budgets for partners whose funding supported agriculture, horticulture, and climate science programs for marginalized youth and adults. His work cultivating donor relationships helped secure contributions from corporations such as HSBC, Walgreens, and Kraft Heinz; foundations such as the Chicago Community Trust and Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust; and government agencies, including the Illinois State Library.As senior editor at NTI Upstream, Jeff directed the healthcare media company’s nonfiction publishing division. This included managing title acquisition, maintaining the editorial tone and appearance of the company’s print and online materials, executing strategic branding campaigns, and envisioning the firm's voice across web and social platforms. Books under his editorial direction were featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and NPR’s "Weekend Edition."Earlier in his career, Jeff taught rhetoric and composition in DePaul University’s First-Year Writing Program and creative writing at the University of Iowa. He began his career as a journalist for Suburban News Publications.
