Engineer Technologist
Saskatchewan, Canada
As an Engineer Technologist, with the City of Saskatoon, I assist with the preparation of contract documents for roadways and water and waste stream projects by preparing cost estimates and tender summaries. I will perform regular inspections of projects to ensure compliance is to standard with the City of Saskatoon specifications. Also, regarding these projects, I prepare progress reports, issue deficiency lists, draft completion and final certificates, compile detailed summaries of expenditures. I also analyze cost, condition, and performance data related to roadway and water and sewer utility systems to establish operations, maintenance, and restoration programs. During the construction phase, I also coordinate and monitor the testing of materials required to ensure compliance with specifications. Review and summarize the results of testing and provide recommendations as required to the contractors. I must identify design, operation, or construction problems and recommend and implement field designs or changes during the construction. I also have to perform accurate preliminary, topographical, construction, benchmark, investigative, and as-built surveys for roadways and water and waste stream operation, maintenance, and construction programs. Complete all calculations related to the acquisition of survey data. Perform quality control checks, as required, and to ensure that all data complies with specified accuracy requirements. During the construction phase, I ensure that all work complies with all occupational health and safety requirements prescribed by the City and Saskatchewan Labour. Communicate regularly with contractors, engineers, other government and regulatory agencies, and the public as required to schedule and coordinate the work.
