Assistant Production Leader - Rodding & Bath Plant DeptsAlcan Jun 2004 - Feb 2006Lynemouth SmelterThis position was initially leading the Anode Rodding Department with the Bath Plant becoming an addition following a re-structure, approx 48 operators. Was responsible for monitoring the many parameters important for producing quality rodded anodes and ensuring customer supply along with anode cover material. Other duties included carrying out stock inventory counts and audits. Some achievements in this role - • Upgrade project implementation and modifications in the Rodding Dept (£10m Capex).• Key member of Six Sigma project which delivered 25% saving on rod repair costs• Transition from Paste to Cast-Iron Rodding• Re-assessment of all Rodding Work procedures and Risk assessments• Introduced Cast-Iron Hot Metal Exclusion Zone• Standardisation of Hot Metal PPE• Implementation of external electrolyte sales generating $2m revenue
